Bassam Mohammed Al-Thawadi (born December 13, 1960)
Veteran film director, who was born on December 13, 1960, was known for producing and directing the first Bahraini feature film entitled The Barrier in 1990, then the second film titled Visitor in 2003 and the third film titled A Bahraini Tale in 2006, and as a regional pioneer in filmmaking in the Arab Gulf region, He is a founding member of the Film Society of the Gulf Cooperation Council states, and he is also the founder and general manager of the first Arab cinema festival in Bahrain and the Gulf entitled the first Arab cinema festival in 2000. He also directed several TV series and short films as well as commercials and advertisements. Programs of educational and cultural during the period of his work in Bahrain radio and television Cooperation, which lasted from 1985 to 2015, where he was appointed Acting General Director for Radio and Television since 2013 and 2015 as well he acted in many plays and directed many concerts and operetta for the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Al-Thawadi was a member and chairman of several jury committees in several Arab and international festivals, including the Gulf Film Festival in Dubai, the Dubai International Film Festival and the Abu Dhabi International Film Festival. He also organized the New Egyptian Film Festival in Bahrain in 1993 in cooperation with the Bahrain Cinema Club, and was the director of the Fifth Arab Music Festival in 1996, which was held in Bahrain, and in 2015 he was awarded the Order of Competence, First Class, by His Majesty Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
